What’s included / omitted (especially in LTSC)

Because LTSC is meant for locked-down, on-premises use, it has some omissions or differences compared to Microsoft 365 Apps (the subscription version). Key points:

  • LTSC does not receive feature updates after it is released. The features you get are those included at launch.

  • It excludes many cloud-backed features. So anything that needs continuous cloud connection, or frequent online updating of features, may be missing or limited. Some specific apps/features are removed or changed:
    • Microsoft Publisher is not included in LTSC 2024. 
    • Teams is not preinstalled with Office LTSC 2024 (you may install separately if needed). 
    • ActiveX controls are disabled by default; admins can re-enable if needed.
